Peter Mullen — Cantos

About.

Combining technology, art, and business is how we all thrive.

Peter Mullen

Peter grew up wanting to be an inventor — somewhere between Stu Pickles and Thomas Edison. The fascination with making things matured into a fascination with building companies (Steve Jobs as the operator of vision) and with engineering the best version of yourself (Tim Ferriss as the operator of self). Product management landed as the synthesis: orchestrating people toward an outcome with the art form of crafting something that actually moves them.

He studied engineering at Stanford, then spent fourteen years shipping enterprise software. At Waypoint, he grew from analyst to head of product, marketing, and sales engineering for a 40-person SaaS — raising $10M+ and cutting enterprise sales cycles in half. At Envoy, he led the Visitors and Protect lines through the pandemic, doubling the business to $60M+ ARR, and launched Connect — the 0→1 push into commercial real estate that hit 90% tenant activation across 24+ properties in months. At Uber, as Senior PM on Direct, he architected a $132B parcel delivery strategy and unlocked a 2M+ trip pipeline.

The current chapter is private, for now. The work happens before sunrise — 5am is when the day's intentions are still being formed, before the inbox arrives, when the quiet is its own kind of leverage. Operating AI-natively, shipping at the speed of one with the leverage of ten. Earning velocity through bias for action and an obsession with quality. Time is the most precious asset.

On the name

A Canto is a poem within a poem.

The most famous is Dante's Inferno. A lesser-known one is the Hyperion Cantos, an epic sci-fi novel series Peter has reread three times.

The brand brings the Cantos concept into everyday life and work — appreciating each step and story along the way, even when the larger arc isn't yet visible. Finding poetry inside the prose of building.

Cantos isn't a studio or a company. It's a personal brand — the publisher's mark for the writing, work, and thinking Peter does in public. The studio and lab are private and named separately. They'll surface here when they're ready. Until then: the work.
