Following a passion, with a purpose

When the pandemic started, I wanted to spend my time doing something meaningful for others, while leveraging my skills and pursuing my interests. For me, having a family in the wine industry, I decided to start a company, Sip Wines, a direct-to-consumer (DTC) online wine marketplace for to help small wineries reach customers that were no longer visiting on-site.

Wineries could create their own profiles, list wines they were selling; while people could browse not just wines, but also wineries (a distinct differentiator from other online wine marketplaces), to help consumers learn the stories behind the winemakers.

Role: Co-founder & CEO

Launching the platform

  • I was able to bring on two co-founders to the project who eventually took it over full time at launch to keep the mission alive.

  • While I built a prototype of the site myself, my talented co-founder Justine took the reigns and coded a fantastic platform.

  • Me and my co-founder, Clay, signed up wineries to join the platform in legal marketing-based revenue share agreements.
